5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1! My whole life I have heard the same kind, deep voice announce those numbers to me as the ‘Ball’ fell and ushered in a brand new year. When I was around eight years old, I sat and watched that shiny monument to ‘new beginnings’ drop from the sky; an annual ‘gift’ that offers every individual a clean slate in order to begin again. My parents would dance. Yup…dance. We had a long hallway that went from the kitchen to the living room, and as Mr. Clark spoke in the background they would hold each other, with smiles on their faces, and dance - ushering in the New Year with hope and happiness. |

Readers, we talk about a great deal of things - from books to movies to politics to various issues, trials, tribulations and blessings that happen each and every day. We laugh…a lot. Perhaps that comes from the sarcastic gene that the Lord blessed me with (although my mother never quite found it to be a blessing). Humor is the universal tool that brings us together. It’s great to be able to look at a sad or morose situation and turn it into a look at life, fun, enjoyment and the endless possibilities that we have in front of us. |

Readers, when I first read this amazing children’s book by Joy Feldman I was immediately transported back to a time when I first readThe Lorax? No, this is not about environmental concerns, but this is a book that has something to say! It is not only fun, but it charms and enlivens kid’s spirits, while at the same time offering a ‘lesson’ embedded in the very cool illustrations and an entertaining plot theywon’tforget! Is Your Hair Made of Donuts? looks at the world of nutrition, just asThe Lorax |

I finished reading Until Next Time earlier this evening and am honestly having a difficult time writing this review. Each time I sit down to write out my thoughts I get all teary eyed again and have to shut everything down and go distract myself for a bit with something around the house. This wasn't a lighthearted easy read but rather a wonderfully bittersweet story that by the end left me reeling emotionally with tears streaming down my face. |

The Flight of Gemma Hardy As all readers know, the beauty, tragedy, inspiration, and loveliness that came from the originalJane Eyreis something that many over the years have tried to imitate or duplicate. Seeing as that you would have to be a remarkable writer to even touch the magic that Charlotte Bronte created, all that can be said is that THIS is a remarkable writer. This contemporary retelling based loosely on the original is filled with characters that the reader will remember far into the future, perhaps with readers one day comparing the two when Ms. |

For anyone who reads great books the name Syrie James should already be on top of all ‘to-read’ lists, as well as categorized as a consistent ‘5-Star’ author on all reviewer’s lists. Whether taking on Jane Austen, vampires, or anything else you can think of, Ms. James definitely knows how to create a story that is the ‘best of the best.’ But this time around she brings two new things to the table: The subject of angels told in a new way that hasn’t already been done six hundred times; and her son, Ryan, who enhances the story ten-fold with his own creativity and a definite ‘male’ point of view. |
